Somos un centro de investigación científica interdisciplinario orientado al estudio, desarrollo e innovación de soluciones sostenibles desde el territorio. Nuestro trabajo se enfoca en la sostenibilidad ambiental, la investigación y formulación de biomateriales compuestos, así como en el análisis y conservación de ecosistemas como el bosque húmedo y bosque seco tropical, entendidos como sistemas vivos complejos y estratégicos para el equilibrio ecológico y social.
Integramos ciencia, tecnología, conocimiento local y experimentación aplicada para generar investigación con impacto real, promoviendo modelos de coexistencia sostenible entre la naturaleza y las comunidades humanas. Nuestro enfoque combina investigación científica, educación, transferencia de conocimiento y acción territorial, con el objetivo de aportar soluciones replicables frente a los desafíos ambientales, climáticos y sociales contemporáneos.
Science and community in Pacoche
We are an interdisciplinary scientific research center focused on the study, development, and innovation of sustainable solutions rooted in local communities. Our work centers on environmental sustainability, the research and formulation of composite biomaterials, analysis and conservation of ecosystems such as tropical rainforests and dry forests, understood as complex living systems that are strategic for ecological and social balance.
We integrate science, technology, local knowledge, and applied experimentation to generate research with real impact, promoting models of sustainable coexistence between nature and human communities. Our approach combines scientific research, education, knowledge transfer, and territorial action, with the aim of providing replicable solutions to contemporary environmental, climatic, and social challenges.
Nuestro propósito es claro: convertirnos en un referente global en investigación aplicada sobre biodiversidad, resiliencia ecológica y tecnologías constructivas sostenibles, al mismo tiempo que actuamos como nodo científico regional para América Latina, con base en la costa ecuatoriana.
Queremos ser un puente entre ciencia y vida, entre saber ancestral y tecnología de vanguardia, entre conservación ambiental y desarrollo regenerativo.
Our purpose is clear: to become a global benchmark in applied research on biodiversity, ecological resilience, and sustainable construction technologies, while acting as a regional scientific hub for Latin America, based on the Ecuadorian coast.

Nuestros ejes temáticos
1. Cambio climático y resiliencia ecológica
• Instalación y operación de una estación meteorológica propia para el monitoreo continuo y específico de variables climáticas locales (temperatura, humedad, viento, precipitación, garúa, etc.).
• Estudio de la dinámica climática costera: garúa, corrientes marinas, condensación atmosférica, y su rol en la regulación natural.
• Investigación aplicada sobre captura de agua del aire y uso de vegetación nativa para amortiguar impactos climáticos.
• Promoción de soluciones basadas en la naturaleza para la mitigación y adaptación climática desde el paisaje.
• Installation and operation of our own weather station for continuous and specific monitoring of local climate variables (temperature, humidity, wind, precipitation, drizzle, etc.).
• Study of coastal climate dynamics: drizzle, sea currents, atmospheric condensation, and their role in natural regulation.
• Applied research on capturing water from the air and using native vegetation to mitigate climate impacts.
• Promotion of nature-based solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation from the landscape.
2. Investigación ciencia de materiales
• Investigacion de nuevos materiales de origen biogenico, enfasis en el bambú Guadua angustifolia y otras especies tropicales. Investigacion en materiales y componentes marinos para formulacion de nuevos biomateriales.
• Desarrollo de un sistema silvícola centrado en el bambú Guadua angustifolia y otras especies regenerativas del bosque seco tropical y bosque humedo tropical.
• Recuperación de suelos y cuencas a través del conocimiento científico combinado con saberes locales.
• Development of a silvicultural system focused on Guadua angustifolia bamboo and other regenerative species.
• Active restoration of degraded ecosystems using agroforestry and natural bioengineering techniques.
